Kali Linux and transparent backgrounds

I never seemed to be able to get it working right..and searching didn't really help..until I found this discussion > https://forums.kali.org/archive/index.php/t-4337.html

I just want to post it here for reference and maybe to help a fellow pen tester.

all you need to do is: go to Applications > System tools > dconf editor

then go to org > gnome > metacity and check the compositing-manager box

this did it for me with no problems.
